Why Do We Celebrate Children's Day?

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14 November 1889 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj). He became India's first Prime Minister and cared deeply about children and their education, so children called him Chacha Nehru. India once marked Children's Day on 20 November, the date the United Nations observes as Universal Children's Day. After Nehru's death in 1964, India began celebrating Children's Day on his birthday, 14 November. The day reminds everyone that every child deserves love, care, play and a good education.
